British Safe and Vault Trade Association

Formerly know as Eurosafe UK, the BSVTA was formed in February 2011 as a sister organisation to Eurosafe in mainland Europe and with nearly 30 member companies, represents the major part of the UK safe industry. The general principal is to represent the interests of UK safe makers, importers and distributors. However, BSVTA is particularly concerned with restoring confidence once more in European standards for testing and rating safes including EN1143-1/2 and EN14450 and working with the UK insurance industry to improve the quality of safes and other security containers sold in the UK market.


British Security Industry Association

An excellent site. It has a search facility for all Standards relating to Security. Basic details can be found by clicking on Standards (in left hand "Shortcuts" box) and then using search facility for Standards. Once Standards for a particular sector of security are found click on the Standard in question and a synopsis will open. It is possible to search Legislation in the same way.

Sponsored by The Home and Scottish Offices and Norwich Union, the principal feature of this site is a database of documents and articles on security related matters.

Police Crime Prevention Initiatives

Police Crime Prevention Initiatives is a police-owned organisation that works on behalf of the Police Service throughout the UK to deliver a wide range of crime prevention and police demand reduction initiatives. This includes the Secured by Design initiative, Police Digital Security Centre, Police Crime Prevention Academy and supporting the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) Security Systems Group to monitor police strategies and technical developments and advise on policy requirements around security systems, including intruder alarms.

Secured by Design (SBD) is the official police security initiative that works to improve the security of buildings and their immediate surroundings to provide safe places to live, work, shop and visit.
