Loss Prevention Standard LPS 1277

February 2, 2012

BRE/LPCB recently published their third version of Loss Prevention Standard LPS 1277, a document setting standards for intruder and fire alarm transmission equipment (ATE - alarm signalling equipment).  This development radically improves the process of specifying alarm transmission systems (ATS - alarm transmission systems) for insurance surveyors and underwriters.

Previously, stakeholders such as insurers wrestled, with variable success, to achieve the levels of security and performance they looked for, particularly for medium/high security risks, with the result that, for the most part, alarm signalling has been specified by brand name – an unsatisfactory practice for obvious reasons.  To find out more read the latest bulletin on the subject - ALARM ALERT  Issue No. 10.
